Student Spotlight – Alex Mraz

Alex Mraz has been a busy lady lately, going from student to graduate and building her portfolio career and industry network with the sound crew at the Northcote Social Club. She is busy on the networking side of things regularly meeting up with a group of like-minded women called Soundgirls where they chat about all things music and industry related.

Graduating in 2018, Alex has landed a number of live music gigs, working in Melbourne’s thriving music scene three nights a week and taking the opportunity to shadow the Front of House Engineer at Rod Laver Arena for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Not only that, she is working at Basement Discs curating excellent vinyl choices and collaborating with fellow students Charlotte and Emily on their tracks.

But this busy bee is not all work and no play! She has recently attended Meredith, Freedom Time and has plans to attend Laneway sideshows coming up in February.

Strong focus on signal flow as well as her approachable nature has landed her a mentorship with The Push, a Victorian non-profit youth music organisation who’s aim is to give every young person the opportunity to participate in Australian music. This aligns perfectly with her desire to make gigs more accessible and safe.

When does this lady sleep?! We can’t wait to see what Alex does in the future!
