What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored by the browser (for example, Internet Explorer or Safari) on your computer or mobile phone. They allow websites to store things like user preferences. You can think of cookies as providing a ‘memory’ for the website, so that it can recognise you when you come back and respond appropriately.
We use a Google service called ‘Analytics’ to track and get reports on how visitors use and interact with our website. Through our website Google places a cookie on your computer or mobile device. These cookies are used to recognise and monitor information such as the number of visitors we have to our website and how they arrived at the site, as well as monitoring the use of our website. We use this data to optimize our website, so that we can improve your user experience.
The information that Google collects is anonymised as much as possible. We have requested Google to mask your IP address, we force a secure connection (SSL) and we have signed a processor agreement with Google. You can see Google’s Privacy and Terms site to find out more here.
We use the online advertising tool Google AdWords to advertise on Google’s search engine, which makes advertisements more relevant for you. AdWords allows us to place relevant adverts at the top of the search results page when you search on Google using words that relate to our course and studying with us.
Social Media Tracking
We advertise our school, courses and events on social media. We use Meta & TikTok tracking technology to measure the impact of our adverts and make them more relevant for our audiences. With your permission we use tracking cookies from Meta & TikTok to understand if our adverts are relevant to you and to improve our communications on social media.
You can block cookies by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) you may not be able to access all or parts of our site.
Tracking cookies from our advertisers
With your permission our advertisers place “tracking cookies” on your computer or mobile device. They use these cookies to keep track of which pages you visit from their network, in order to build up a profile of your online browsing behaviour. This profile is also built on the basis of comparable information that they receive from your visit to other websites from their network. This profile from our end is not linked to your personal data such as name, address or e-mail address, but only serves to match advertisements to your profile so that they are as relevant as possible to you.
Your data when contacting us via our website
When you fill out an enquiry form on our website we will ask you for some of your personal data. This will vary slightly depending on the form that you complete.
We will generally ask you for:
Your name, email address and contact details.
This information is used to communicate with you, answer any questions you have and to send you the information that you require about our school and studying with us.
We will also ask if you wish to receive our newsletter. You can update your contact preferences on our communication preferences page.
Your data you submit when applying to study with us
When making an application to study with us we will ask for some detailed information from you to assess your eligibility for the course.
This generally includes your name, contact details, date of birth, nationality, level of English (where appropriate), educational and work background, and intended location and course of study.
The information we request from you is for the sole purpose of assessing that you meet the course entry requirements and will not be shared with any third parties. If you need to change or update any of the information submitted to us please contact us directly and we will update our records.
Your data during and after you study with us
When you book a ticket for an event on our Eventbrite page you agree that we can send you information via email and newsletter. If you wish to update your preferences about which communications you will receive, please go to our communication preferences page.
We use Mailchimp to send out newsletters on a regular basis. You can choose to opt-in or to opt-out of receiving these newsletters when you fill out any of the forms on our website by selecting ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ under the tick box called ‘Newsletter’. If you no longer want to receive these newsletters please select unsubscribe at the bottom of the newsletter or email us directly at email@example.com.
Right to inspect and correct or delete your data
You have the right to request access to and correct or delete any of your data. You can request this by emailing us directly on firstname.lastname@example.org. To prevent abuse we will ask you a few questions to confirm you are who you say you are. When it comes to access to personal data linked to a cookie, you need to send a copy of the cookie in question. You can find it in the settings of your browser.
