Who Is This Course For?
This short course is aimed at those looking to take their mixdown techniques to a new level. Going from the foundation up to advanced concepts in a 6-week intense course offers accessibility to all skill levels. Given the unique intimacy of the classes, you will be entering into a mentorship style relationship with your tutor where specific concerns can be addressed. Enabling rewarding outcomes, regardless of skill level.
Entry Requirements
- Basic experience of signal flow.
- Some Experience in Audio or Music
- Basic understanding of DAW of choice
- Competent on Mac OSX or another platform if they wish to bring a laptop.
- A basic understanding of audio engineering terminology – compression, eq etc.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills – basic English language ability.
- A desire to learn and improve.
- Some genre-specific understanding of elements of Electronic Dance Music
Hardware Requirements
- All hardware requirements are already met and provided by ARI Melbourne.
- A portable hard drive is recommended for saving work.
- Applicants can bring their own headphones or portable machines if desired.
- Headphones are provided for use on campus.
Software Requirements & Information
- All software is provided and fully operational at ARI Melbourne. If an applicant wishes to bring their own laptop along – they will need to have the DAW capable of multichannel playback, MIDI supported sequencing as well as multichannel audio manipulation.
- Students will have access to a workstation at Abbey Road Institute Melbourne for the duration of the course. They will also have access to our extensive list of plugins and instruments.
- The course will be presented in Ableton Live. Any of the major DAWS can be used as a replacement if desired. Any plugins used will be available on the ARI computers.
