Abbey Road Institute Throw Down Remix Competition


Ready to throwdown a remix?

Abbey Road Institute is super excited to welcome aspiring producers to our campus where they get to create a remix in our studio for our remix competition. We have assembled an incredible judging panel consisting of Australian Music Industry heavyweights to pick the winner.

Many of the finest developers are found from coding competitions so we thought we would uncover some of the hidden gems in Melbourne and provide the platform for them to shine.

The  Thrown Down Remix Comp 10th November 2018 will be a super fun and exciting event and we cannot wait to share the winner’s remix!!

Dj, Producer and Engineer Alexander Braithwaite aka “SUB-human” has teamed up with Abbey Road Institute to give you a chance to remix one of his tracks!

When not producing his own bangers, Alex engineers for other artists like Slumberjack, Carmada and Golden Features to name a few.

SUB-human will be here to host the event and judge a winner alongside other industry heavyweights including Aria winning Dj “Colour Castle”, Guy Lewis from Be Rich Records and Pat Ward A&R from TMRW MusicWesley Gabble from Audio TechnicaBen Feggens from Studios 301 and David Whitehead from Roland!


1st Place

  • Win a mentoring session at Abbey Road Institute with SUB-human where he will go over some of his highly coveted mixing techniques.

Entrants have 5 hours to complete a remix.

Stems will be available on the day only.

No external computers or equipment can be used on the day only Abbey Road Institute equipment that is onsite and listed under our gear.

The Contest period begins at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) on November 10, 2018, and ends at 5:00 PM EST.

The winners will be selected by our judging panel and announced on 24th November 2018 after the judging period.

The remix submissions are ordered randomly and given to the judges.

Only one entry per contestant.

Open to residents of Australia.

Employees of Abbey Road Institute or any judges are ineligible.

Odds of winning depend on a number of entries received, artistic and technical merit of entry judged by subjective criteria.

Abbey Road Institute’s Studios here are powered by Avid Pro Tools 12 HD, Logic X and Ableton. Every entrant has access to Universal Audio interfaces and plugins, and plugins from other leading manufacturers including, Slate Digital, Mcdsp, Universal Audio, Waves, Izotope, and Native Instruments.
